For one special night, AFAR and Live Aqua turned New York City’s Spring Place into a little piece of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, giving guests the chance to indulge in the new resort’s stylish and alluring atmosphere. We introduced the resort’s sophisticated ambience as well as the sensory experience of authentic Mexico. The party was filled with lavender accents: from the soothing scent to beautiful bouquets to handmade cocktails with fresh sprigs of lavender. Guests also enjoyed a tequila tasting featuring San Miguel de Allende’s own Casa Dragones. A perfume pop-up allowed guests the opportunity to create their own lavender-infused scent and bring a piece of San Miguel de Allende home with them.

LIVE STORYTELLING

AFAR and Chase Marriott kicked off a celebration of AFAR’s most transformative travel stories into three live storytelling events at of-the-moment Marriott properties in six markets. Each event featured three travel storytellers who develop and shape their stories with an AFAR editor and an experienced on-stage storytelling coach. The tellers will share those eye-opening, unforgettable, and experiential travel moments to create an emotional connection with the audience.. A world of boundless stories - travel has the power to change lives, three stories of transformative travel featuring esteemed AFAR contributing writers, photographers and illustrators.

AFAR PHOTO AWARDS

AFAR Media and United MileagePlus partnered on a global search for aspiring photography talent. The 2019 AFAR Photo Awards celebrated the diverse and creative ways travelers capture the world. Entrants were asked to submit photo entries within five distinct categories: People, Outdoors, Cities, Food, and Style & Design. United's global coffee partner, Illy caffè North America Inc., also joined to sponsor the Style & Design category for the first time.

The photo contest culminated with a cocktail reception revealing the winning images and highlighting the diverse and creative ways that photographers -both professional and amateurs - see the world. This celebrator event \was held at the San Francisco Art Institute, the winning images were on display for over a month as an art installation for students to enjoy. A portion of the proceeds were donated to a local school in support of their art department.

COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION FAN FEST

Pop Photo and Field & Stream partnered with the Country Music Association to create an exclusive fan experience. This on-site activation included access to a private photo shoot of select country music stars and front row press access while they perform on the Chevrolet Riverfront Stage.

CURATED WORLDWIDE PHOTO TRIPS

A partnership between Pop Photo, Nikon, San Disk & Manfrotto to create 18 annual worldwide photo trips. Led by professional photographers, photo enthusiasts can travel the world while shooting alongside the pros to capture their favorite moments. Access to special places, unique vantage points, models and scouted locations delivers a photographic opportunity to capture the world. Attendees were give access to all the latest camera & video gear from Nikon, memory cards from San Disk and tripods from Manfrotto. This program reached photo enthusiasts, weekend warriors, tech and gear enthusiasts spanning over 15 years, covered 7 continents, over 40+ states and built a photo community of 8,000+
